Mindful Parenting During a Pandemic
I was honored to be invited back to HSPVA here in Houston to present “Mindful Parenting During a Pandemic”. Parents, teens and children have all been significantly impacted by this pandemic. Recents studies have shown that the prevalence of depression has more than tripled in the United States since the beginning of 2020 (Ettman et al., 2020) and that suicide is the second leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 10-34 (CDC, 2020). Additionally, we know that fear increases anxiety and stress levels on healthy individuals and intensifies symptoms for those who may have preexisting conditions (Shigemura et al., 2020).
If you are a parent or teen reading this, know that you are not alone. If you are struggling or just not feeling like yourself, please know that there are resources to help.
If you or someone you know is interested in seeking out therapy or parent coaching, I am available for free consultation at 832-303-1228.
