CBTH4Fatigue Training at the Tisch Cancer Institute at The Icahn School of Medicine

I recently completed CBT-H for Fatigue Program with Dr. Guy Montgomery and Dr. Julie Schnur at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. I feel so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with and learn from these incredible researchers and clinicians.

CBT-H is a treatment modality which combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Hypnosis to help people who are struggling with cancer related fatigue reduce their experience of fatigue and other clinical symptoms. I am so excited to be able to bring this to my clients!

As you may know, I utilize many mind-body approaches to help my clients achieve healing. Hypnosis is just one of those approaches. Even though hypnosis has been recognized by the American Medical Association and the American Psychological Association for decades as a safe and effective method of treatment for a variety of conditions, there are still many myths about what hypnosis really is.

Here are a few MYTHS about hypnosis:

Hypnosis is something that is done to them rather than something that they can do for themselves

People can lose control of themselves and can be made to do or say anything the hypnotist wants

People will feel dramatically different, and that they won’t be able to come “out” of it when they want to

People won’t be able to remember anything about the hypnosis session.

Again, none of these things is true. In fact, hypnosis is something that anyone can do for themselves, and I am just here to teach you how to do it. Hypnosis is a tool that allows a person to use focused attention and concentration so that they can feel more relaxed, less anxious, less stressed, and feel better.
