Benefits of Joining a Divorce Recovery & Empowerment Group

Divorce support groups bring people together in the common bond of experience.

A support group can provide a safe and confidential space to process your grief.  Grief is a normal reaction to loss of any kind.  However, our society has given us messages throughout our lives that these feelings are abnormal.  Grievers need to talk about their losses.  Emotional isolation is a major problem for grievers.  Recovery from divorce and thriving afterwards, means claiming your circumstances instead of your circumstances claiming you.  (John W. James and Russell Friedman – The Grief Recovery Handbook).

A support group can provide a space to be HEARD.   Additionally, hearing others’ experiences and perspectives can provide new ways of coping.  In summary, both listening and sharing can give group members feedback on their thoughts and behaviors which can facilitate self-awareness, self-compassion, and growth!

Lastly, a support group can provide a space to develop new skills that can help each member move forward in a meaningful and intentional way.

If you or someone you know is contemplating, currently experiencing, or on the other side of divorce, our Divorce Recovery & Empowerment Group might be for you!
