We are honored to introduce Mary Beth Lee, LCSW, as the newest member of the Well Mind Body team. Mary Beth brings a wealth of experience, profound resilience, and unparalleled expertise in helping individuals and communities navigate grief and trauma. Her journey into this work is deeply personal, inspiring, and a testament to the strength of the human spirit.

A Little About Mary Beth

Where Did You Grow Up?
Originally from Maryland, Mary Beth moved to Dallas in 1977, where her father’s job transferred the family. She attended high school there, graduated from Southern Methodist University (SMU), and started her family, having her first two children in Dallas. She relocated to Houston in 1987, which she has called home ever since.

What Led You to Become a Therapist?
Mary Beth’s path to becoming a clinical social worker was born from unimaginable tragedy. On August 8, 1998, her family’s life changed forever in a devastating car accident that claimed the life of her oldest son, Johnny, and left her second son, Christopher, with a traumatic brain injury. From that day forward, Mary Beth’s life and career took on a new purpose—to understand and help others navigate grief, trauma, and healing.

“I’ve struggled, explored, questioned, and discovered along the way,” Mary Beth says. “My own healing journey has given me a profound understanding of the realities and consequences of traumatic loss, and it’s now my mission to support others through their darkest moments.”

Mary Beth earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Houston’s Graduate College of Social Work, where she currently serves on the Dean’s Advisory Committee. She is also a Fellow with the ChildTrauma Academy and has studied extensively under Dr. Bruce Perry, a renowned expert in trauma.
